Lilapsophobia: Fear Of Tornadoes And Hurricanes

Some people are irrationally afraid of bad weather. So afraid they would welcome a means to control the weather. Cloudbusting attracts a lot of people who suffer from Lilapsophobia.

I found this article on the internet and consider it relevant here as a possible explanation of why some people turn so eagerly to cloudbusting. It may well be that in at least some cases, the idea of being able to control the weather is more to solve personal psychological problems than because there is really a weather problem.

Lilapsophobia:
Fear of Tornadoes and Hurricanes

By Lisa Fritscher
Updated December 10, 2008

Lilapsophobia, or fear of tornadoes and hurricanes, can be seen as a more severe form of astraphobia, or fear of thunder and lightning. If you suffer from lilapsophobia, it is not the average summer storm that you fear, but the possibility of that storm becoming severe. This phobia is relatively common, although rarer than astraphobia.

Causes of Lilapsophobia

Like many phobias, the fear of tornadoes and hurricanes is often traced to a negative experience. Perhaps you have been affected by severe weather that caused personal injury or property damage to you or someone you love. Or you might have been spared by a tornado that wreaked havoc in your neighborhood, possibly adding a bit of survivor guilt to the mix.

Lilapsophobia, like many phobias, may also be learned. If your parents, friends or relatives are afraid of tornadoes and hurricanes, you may have picked up their fear.

Symptoms of Lilapsophobia

While it is normal and rational to check weather forecasts before outdoor activities, many people with lilapsophobia find that the weather controls their lives. You might spend a great deal of time watching the Weather Channel or tracking storms online. You may refuse to go out on days when storms are predicted.
When a storm hits, you may display unusual behaviors. Constantly checking for weather alerts; hiding under the bed or in a closet; and even putting a full tornado plan into effect as soon as the rain begins are all common among those with this fear. You might listen closely to the storm for sounds of tornado activity, or you might attempt to drown out the storm altogether with loud music or movies.
Many people find that lilapsophobia is worsened by being alone. You might call friends in a panic, or arrange your schedule such that you are rarely alone. Some people with this phobia find that going to a mall, a movie theater or a library can help them control their panic.
Over time, you might find that your daily activities become more and more restricted. You might become unwilling to enter buildings that you do not find “safe,” even on clear, sunny days. You may refuse to take part in outdoor activities or long road trips for fear that a storm might hit.

Lilapsophobia in Popular Media

Tornadoes and hurricanes are a part of life, and today’s media offers the opportunity to view devastating storms and their aftermath repeatedly, in vivid high definition detail. Although the coverage is certainly important, it is equally important to put such coverage into perspective. While small weather events happen frequently, only those that are severe are deemed newsworthy. Media coverage can easily lead to a skewed belief that serious storms are much more common than they actually are.

Rational Preparedness

Although your chances of being caught in a killer storm are relatively small, the risks are real. Therefore, it is important to be prepared. The key is to recognize the difference between rational preparedness and phobic reactions.
If you live in a storm-prone area, get a copy of your area’s official preparedness literature. These documents are often distributed in grocery stores, libraries and other public locations. Read through the recommendations and put together a storm readiness plan.
If you share a household, let someone else monitor the weather. That person can alert you about any specific dangers and help you decide the best course of action. This will take some of the pressure off you, and can help you avoid obsessive checking.
Learn about the types of storms that affect your area. For examples, hurricanes can be devastating but are predicted far in advance. Tornadoes can develop quickly, but only under certain weather conditions. Learning about the types of storms that may affect you can help you make more rational decisions about confronting them.

Treating Lilapsophobia

Like many phobias, lilapsophobia is often treated through cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques. However, if your phobia stems from post-traumatic stress disorder, then other types of therapy may be more appropriate. Your therapist will be able to diagnose the root of your phobia and prescribe the best course of action.
It is crucial to find a therapist that you trust to help you conquer your fears.

Electric Oranur

Countless electrical devices all over the world are contributing to the growing oranur contamination of this planet.

The orgone field of the earth has lost about 35% of it's life-suport capacity ( measured by the decline in orgone charge of the blood cells of the average person, as measured by the Reich Blood Test ) since the early 1940s, before the start of the Atomic Age. About 80% of the oranurization of the earth is due to nuclear industry and nuclear bombs, with about 10% due to electrical technology and the rest to other causes including building of dams on large rivers.

ALL high-voltage alternating current equipment creates oranur to some degree. The oranur effect from electrical equipment is milder than that from radioactive materials, but is of much the same nature otherwise. The widespread use of AC electrical devices is a part of the cause for the climate breakdown that is currently being mistaken for greenhouse gases from combustion.

As DOR builds up, there will be more and more need for hurricanes to metabolize and remobilize it, since hurricanes are one of the most important ways in which nature gets rid of DOR and restores the atmosphere to health. To vandalize hurricanes, especially at this time in history when they are so desperately needed, would be worse than irresponsible; it would be depraved.

There will also be more and more tornadoes. While the hurricane is created by cosmic astronomical factors on a regular yearly basis and cleans the atmosphere of DOR on a global scale as a sort of regular yearly "housecleaning", the tornado is more like the immune system of a living body, being called into existence by a greater-than-normal build-up of DOR and acting on a more localized scale than a hurricane, but more intensely.

A tornado remobilizes DOR in the local area where it forms in reaction to the contamination. As the DOR-infestation becomes stormger, there will be more tornadoes called into existence to deal with it. This increased incidence of tornadoes is not to be interfered with. It is the needed response of the atmosphere to an irritant that if not restored to normal mobility by a tornado would sooner or later die and become unable to suport life.

Both hurricanes and tornadoes are needed. They always have been, and are needed more than ever now that humans are adding so much to the ever-growing burden of oranur and the DOR that results from it.

While elimination of nuclear power and weapons should be the top priority for those who want to protect the atmosphere from total collapse, elimination of all technology using Tesla current (  AC ) should also be an ultimate goal.

A Letter To David Wells

Dear Mr. Wells,

Thank you for communicating to me your ideas on the subject.

I agree with you that since the information is public there is no point in trying to hide it, but the conclusion I draw is that therefore there is no reason for me to be silent about it. Anyone who learns about it for the first time from me is not likely to fall into the trap of thinking it can be understood on a basis of mechanistic physics.

Contrary to what you may think, I am not a Luddite. I am not against all cloudbusting. I am in favor of it being done properly and with due concern for the environment. So far, you have failed to show either such concern or the knowledge of ecology required to implement it.

You say:
"If all inventions were suppressed , we would live like animals and use no tools to aid our survival . We would be in danger of being killed by the rest of the animals . Fortunately we invented things to keep us alive."

Does it occur to you that we somehow managed to stay alive for not only thousands, but MILLIONS of years without this invention you think is so vital to out survival? You show considerable egotism, amounting to hubris, if you think the survival of the human race depends on your personal contribution.

What you really express is a fear of nature. This irrational fear of the natural environment is very common in this modern world. It is, in fact, at the roots of all environmental problems. Your evident technophilia is a symptom of this fear. Technology is by definition, man's attempt to control nature, and the motivation is at the deepest level, a fear of nature inside oneself, which is based on the endemic sexual repression in this culture and is projected outwards onto the convenient screen of the natural world in the technophiliac personality.

You are right that everything I say is based on the orgone theory first developed by Reich. That theory has stood the test of 58 years of successful cloudbusting operations by numerous individuals, and so far you have not presented any information upon which to form an opinion that it should be modified.

"Wave interference" is a concept derived from conventional electromagnetic theory. It is a part of the mechanistic scientific paradigm that cannot explain the behavior of the atmosphere because in the real world, nature does not behave mechanisticly.

What you call "wave interference" is one manifestation of what is seen in orgonomy as superimposition of streams of orgone energy in the atmosphere, a much broader concept that ranges from the far reaches of space through the formation of galaxies, the formation of the solar system and planets, including earth, and the behavior of the atmosphere and all living organisms. For you to imagine "there is no DOR" is the height of ignorance, and in someone who presumes to force the world to live in whatever weather he decides to inflict on it constitutes criminal insanity.

Your focus on Sedona, Arizona is an artifact of your location near the center of the North American continent. The galactic stream that brings orgone energy to earth from space impinges on North America at a point near San Diego, California, and travels Northeastward from there, crossing your location in a direction of travel that you apparently have mistaken for a universal situation instead of a local one.

So far, you have not addressed any of the numerous issues I have raised in my several e-mails on the subject. Instead, you presume to lecture me to the effect that I should abandon the results of over 40 years of observation and practical experience in favor of a theory for which you have not presented any evidence at all.

Instead of simply dismissing the orgonomic theory, you would be much better off if you studied it and tried to learn something. I have my doubts about the ability of someone who exhibits such an ingrained fear of nature to grasp the principles involved, but it might be worth a try. Who knows? You might prove me wrong.

Oranur

In the 50s, the main human source of oranur was bomb tests, but since then the bomb tests have mostly stopped, but a nuclear industry has grown up all over the world. In North America alone, there are more than 100 nuclear reactors. There are several "waste dumps" for high-level radioactive wastes. There are more than 100 nuclear-powered ships plying the oceans. Radioactive cargos are routinely shipped all over the world by both plane and ship. Several of the most industralized countries in Europe get most of their energy from nuclear power.

All radioactive concentrations produce oranur to varying degrees. The worst at this time are the reprocessing stations that reprocess used nuclear fuel rods. They release a radioactive gas called Krypton 85 into the atmosphere. No attempt to contain it is made because it goes up to the upper atmosphere so it is thought to be harmless since it will not come in contact with life at the surface. But it causes an oranur excitation in the highly-charged upper atmosphere and this has effects on the weather. It also has health effects at the surface which would not be expected or explicable except with a knowledge of the oranur experiment.
So, while the problem is not exactly the same as in Reich´s time, it is still a problem. The ongoing breakdown in climate stability all over the world is one symptom. Another is the much faster rate of disintegration of red blood cells after removal from the body, as seen in the Reich Blood Test. When Reich wrote about this test in the early 1940s, he told how long it took for the cells to begin to lose their cohesion. It takes much less time now. According to Reich, this faster disintegration time is what would be expected to be found in a pre-cancer or pre-leukimia subject.

And today it is considered normal.
There is a lot of detailed information on the Reich Blood Test and the findings about it in recent years on the several websites of John Trettin. Most of it is in German, but if you can read it or get it translated, it will give an indication of what I am talking about.

There is a lot of nuclear material all over this planet now. Not only the large, power-generating reactors the public sees, but also there are more than 100 nuclear-powered ships, both surface and submarines, a lot of small research and training reactors at universities, and a lot of nuclear materials being shipped in both ships and airplanes all over the world for medical and industrial uses.

The worst single source of atmospheric oranur is the French nuclear fuel reprocessing station at Cap Le Harve, whgich releases more radioactive KR85 gas into the atmosphere than any other single source. The British nuclear station at Sellafield in is second place for a single source of radioactive pollution of the environment.

The United States alone has more than 40,000 nuclear warheads stockpiled, and every country which has an American miliary base has them. The American Air Force has one third of its planes in the air at all times, constantly moving to avoid being a target, and carrying armed nuclear weapons. Each such weapon, when armed, is a source of as much oranur excitation as an average-sized reactor.

The USA has also been using radioacive dust to contaminate large areas of Iraq,  Afganistan, and Australia, and that dust does not just stay in the countries they are trying to poison; it travels on the wind and has been detected all over Europe by now.

Add in all the ships and weapons Russia, China, Japan, Pakistan, India, Israel, and the other nucllear-armed countries have, and you can see how much damage must be happening to the orgone field of the whole planet. Collectively, all these sources of oranur have reduced the orgone charge of the earth by about 35% since the early 40s, as measured by the change in breakdown rate of the blood seen in the Reich Blood Test.

Europe, like everywhere else, has had forest death, which is blamed on acid rain, AIDS, which is blamed on a virus, increases in cancer, which is blamed on better diagnosis techniques and longer life-spans, mental illness, which is blamed on stresses of modern life, alcoholism, which is blamed on drinking alcohol, drug addiction, which is blamed on poverty, and unusual weather, which is blamed on combustion of fuels.

The list of symptoms is as long as the list of causes, and it is not worthwhile usually to try to figure out which particular source of oranur is the cause of which particular symptom. The atmospheric breakdown due to oranur is all-pervasive. It is a global problem. Changes in local weather in any one part of the earth are only one of many possible symptoms.

But while oranur is already a global problem, cloudbusters are still a problem on a small enough scale that it is still possible to sometimes figure out which cloudbuster project is the cause of a particular weather event. At least, so far. But the point is now near when, thanks to the internet making it so easy to spread the word around about how to build cloudbusters, cloudbuster proliferation will be so extensive that it will no longer be practical to bother trying to figure out who caused any given weather anomoly. If there are too many cloudbusters operating all over the place without any of them knowing about each other, it would make little difference if there were a few more or a few less. The result would still be atmospheric chaos.

So, while oranur is still the greater problem at this time, it makes more sense to concentrate on the problem it is still possible to do something about.

My statement that the orgone field of the earth is about 35% weaker than it was in the early 1940s is based on the results of the Reich Blood Test. Reich gave fairly exact times of disintegration for the red blood cells after they are removed from the body and used the time it took as an indication of the over-all health and vitality of the organism. The blood cells now start to fall apart much faster than the times Reich gave for that to happen, indicating an orgonomic weakness.

The basic written material is in the Cancer Biopathy, and more detailed information is available in the pamphlet, The Reich Blood Test, by Dr. Chester Raphael. Both are available from the Wilhelm Reich Museum. The more recent figures are not in print, but have been confirmed by several orgonomists. I was told about it by Eva Reich as long ago as the late 1980s, and the situation has only gotten worse since then. I know Dr. Richard Blasband did some test of the so-called "atomic veterans" who had been ordered into close proximity to above-ground nuclear tests in the 1950s, and found them all in a state that would have been considered pre-cancerous in Reich´s time. There was an article in the Journal of Orgonomy around that time that said nearly everyone now has a blood picture that Reich, in the 40s, would have diagnosed as pre-cancerous.

The oranur field around a nuclear reactor is not dependent on wind direction. It surrounds the reactor in all directions, independent of wind direction, and cannot be detected by conventional instruments, but has both biological and meteorlogical effects. A Japanese anti-nuclear group used a species of spiderwort plant which is particularly sensitive to low-level radiation, as a biological detector, and found that the plants, planted in concentric circles all around a reactor, showed the microscopic cellular damage of radiation exposure in correlation to their proximity to the reactor, and in all directions equally, regardless of the prevailing wind. At the same time, no man-made instrument could detect any radiation, even right up against the containment vessel.

In the opening chapters of the Oranur Experiment, First Report, the chapters which are not included in the volume, Selected Writings, Reich says all high-voltage AC sources produce the same general effect as radioactive substances do, but milder and to a lesser degree. I have seen high-tension power-transmission lines break up small cumulus clouds, and once, when I used a diathermy machine next to a cloudbster, I saw the same effects as I later saw when I placed a needle of radium inside an accumulator. So I consider any high-voltage A.C. power source to be oranurgenic.

That is why I recognized the effect when I saw it described on the Weather Rangers website. David Wells was working on a reflexive electric motor when he noticed that when he left it on, clouds were breaking up over his workshop. He did not know the same phenomena had been observed and reported by Reich over 50 years ago, and thought he had discovered something new that could be used to "control weather". But in reality, all it does is DESTROY weather, killing the orgone energy that moves the weather, just as a nuclear reactor does, though to a lesser degree.

If anyone familiar with the later work of Reich had been around to advise him, Wells would have avoided the colossal error of anouncing the discovery of a weather control machine and starting a group of super-heroes to put on their masks and capes and fly around "saving the innocent" from "bad weather". If he had been a scientist instead of an electrical engineer, he would have done a lot of research before going public with it. And if he had been a businessman, he would have tried to commercialize it. But being a guy who grew up reading super-hero comic books he started the Mighty Morphin´ Weather Rangers super-hero club instead.

High-tension power lines, radar and microwave dishes, radio and television transmitters, and other such equipment all have the same basic effect as a reactor, but less, according to the amount of power output involved. The Weather Rangers should be called the Weather DErangers, since that is what they are really doing.

There is little doubt that the polar ice is melting. There is however, considerable room for debate about why. The conventional view that the whole earth is getting warmer because of a supposed "greenhouse effect" from a build-up of CO2 in the atmosphere from combustion of fossil fuels is not really supported by the evidence. Neither is the usual dismissal of the warming trend as only another stage in a long-term natural cycle caused by variation in the output of solar energy. The warming of the poles is clearly of human origin, but is also clearly NOT caused by any "greenhouse effect" from burning of coal and oil.

What I think it is, is the widespread use of nuclear power. The reprocessing of nuclear reactor fuel rods releases a radioactive gas, Kr85, into the atmosphere. This gas goes up to higher levels, so it is considered harmless to life at the surface. No effort is therefore made to contain it. As a radiuoactive gas, it consists of charged particles. When charged particles enter the field of a magnet, they migrate to the poles. Since the earth is a giant bar magnet, the Kr85 tends to collect at the poles. There, at high altitudes, it interacts with the natural high charge at that altitude, resulting in a net increase in charge of the poles.

Strong tropical storms, including those that become strong enough to be classed as huricanes, form near the equator. These storm systems are highly charged systems. How far they travel toward the poles depends on two factors: the strength of the charge of the storm, and that of the pole that is attracting them poleward. As charge builds up at the poles, these tropical storms are being attracted farther and farther towartd the poles, bringing tropical heat with them. This transport of heat from the tropics toward the poles is warming up the polar regions and giving the illusion that the entire earth is getting warmer.

The increase in strong storms being drawn toward the poles is also causing more frequent and severe weather in the temperate zones, which give added support to the "global warming" theory because an increase in frequency and severity of storms is also predicted by that theory. This is coincidence, however, not really a confirmation of the "global warming" hypothesis.

That storm tracks in the North Atlantic are influenced by solar flare activity coinciding with the influx of charge from space which tends to build up at the poles has been known since the early 1970s, at least, from the work opf Ralph Markson, of M.I.T. The current ongoing increase in charge at the poles is from man-made, not astronomical, origins, but the effect is the same. The poles are attracting more and more storms and tropical air masses and the effects will accelerate as long as nuclear power is in use on this planet.

Unique Situation

As far as I know, nobody has ever actually weakened a full-grown hurricane. But there are several cases on record where one has been steered out to sea. That is relatively easy.

If it is a good thing to do or not is another question entirely, of course.

In my opinion, it should not be done except in very unusual circumstances. I would not try to divert a hurricane merely to save a city that should never have been built on a flood plain anyway, but I would do it to prevent a nuclear reactor from being breached by a hurricane and poisoning a large area around it.

But the situation would have to be a one-of-a-kind one, not something that would have to be done every time a storm came along. Hurricanes are needed and should almost always be allowed to run their course.

We Need Cloudbusting But Not Weather Control

I am not against all cloudbusting. There certainly is a need for cloudbusting at times. But the purpose of any cloudbusting operation should not be "control" of the weather. It should be return of the atmosphere to normal pulsation and movement. In other words, removal of DOR.

Some DOR has always existed. It is a natural stage in the normal healthy metabolism of the earth and it's atmosphere. In the normal course of events it is soon metabolized and becomes mobile again. Reich describes this in detail, even with equations, in Contact With Space.

It is only in the last 65 years or so, with the Atomic Age, that DOR has greatly increased due to human actions. This has effects on both weather and biology. The symptoms are vague and non-specific enough that they are seldom recognized except by those who have read Reich. But collectively, over time, DOR has become a very serious threat to the continuation of life on earth.

Cloudbusting to releive this dangerous situation by removing DOR is a valid thing to do. It is much needed. And one of the effects of it would be the regularization of the weather. The climate is now breaking down and becoming destabilized due to DOR and removal of DOR would help return it to stability.

This has nothing to do with "weather control". Rain might result, but this is not "rainmaking". To attempt to use a cloudbuster to control weather or make rain is to add an additional layer of manmade interference to that which already exists. Cloudbusting used in this way only compounds the problem and adds to the destabilization of the atmosphere.

The people who think cloudbusting is "weather engineering" are only showing that they do not understand it. And it is weather engineering, not cloudbusting, that I have been speaking against in all these missives I have been sending out lately. If anyone is using a cloudbuster properly, for DOR removal, not to "control weather", then I have no objection.

The Weather Rangers think they have a new invention that can be used to control weather. They think it is possible for them to use it to make rain or prevent hurricanes and tornadoes. They do not realize the invention is not new and what it does can be done by many other forms of electrical device. They do not understand how it works. They know nothing of the orgone energy in the atmosphere. They have no idea there is any such thing as a problem that is causing the weather to do things it would not do otherwise. They have no idea their machine is only adding to the cause of the weather breakdown.

They have no idea of healing a sick atmosphere. They want to force it do their bidding. And they are just making the sickness worse. So what I say against them is not because they are doing something. It is because what they are doing is the exact reverse of what they should be doing.

Rebutal To Jamie Ogg

In a letter to the Orgonomy Mailing List Jamie Ogg wrote:

"... If oranur effect were what he ( Carlinsky ) says all transmission wires would be affecting folks as instantly as he says the Wells  machine is or would be doing. Yes high EMF and orgone do interact.."

I never said the effect would be instant. This is a Straw Man argument, misquoting me to refute something I never said. There certainly is plenty of evidence that EM fields are toxic. There have been thousands of refereed scientific articles published on that.

What I said was that the Wells device is an EM device, it therefore creates a mild oranur effect which affects the weather in the way oranur is known to do since the Oranur Experiment in 1951, and will also almost certainly have effects of the same type as oranur is known for on people near it. Those effects are not necessarily instant or dramatic enough to be noticed right away, but that does not mean they do not exist.
